What I've decided to blog about today is one of the hardest physical feelings to put into words but I'm going to do my best. It may feel different to each mama-to-be and as my baby grows, his little feet will different to me as I feel him kick. I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant with my son William and this is what his little feet feel like from inside my body....
At first (at 22 weeks) I didn't notice that William's kicks had become "feel-able." I was ill with a stomach virus and I could have sworn that the bubble-like feeling going on was just my stomach feeling topsy turvy. A week later I started seeing my whole belly jump when bubble-like feelings happened as well. This bubble feeling sort of feels like a balloon or a bubble gum bubble being quickly blown up and then popping. You know, like a bubble. Now that he's even bigger the bubble feeling comes with a bit more pressure and I'm not going to lie, sometimes it really hurts, especially when he's straight up kicking my bladder or when his kicks awaken me in the middle of the night. Often, when he's very active his kicks feel almost like a machine gun firing (not that I know what that really feels like though...), I'm able to feel both of his little feet kicking at the exact same time, I'm guessing he's doing a sort of running action, and it hurts like crazy. Despite the fact that sometimes his feet hurt me from the inside out, I love feeling it, even if I complain about it, I really do love the feeling. Once your baby is big enough to feel the kicks (and you sort of know what the kicks feel like), it's comforting to know that your little one is moving around and healthy.
Be warned mama-to-be's that are still early on and soon to be mama-to-be's, your baby will eventually have a sleep cycle while still in the womb but most likely it will be the complete opposite of your schedule. As you go about your busy daytime schedule, the motion of each movement that you make puts your baby to sleep, similar to rocking them in your arms once their born. Then at night as you stay fairly in-active, your baby is like, "Yo! I was sleeping in here. Now I can't sleep so come on wake up, wake up (then comes the kicking)!!"
Enjoy each of those little kicks, even if they are painful, because before you know it your little one will be part of the world and running around all over the place.
