Valentine's Day is just one week away and the world is currently filled with hearts, sweets, and cards. So why not add one more stereotypical Heart Day treat with these delicious chocolate covered strawberries. I recently made these for the first time when making treats for my friend's

Creative Workshop

and had so much fun! I never realized just how easy making chocolate covered strawberries is and now I plan on making these bad boys quite often. I'm planning some tutorials for "themed" chocolate covered strawberries in the near future that I am so excited for! In the meantime, here is how to make your basic chocolate covered strawberries.

ingredients

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Level:

 Easy

Total Time:

 1 hour 30 minutes

Cost:

 $10-$15

Supplies

Strawberries

Milk chocolate melting wafers

Dark or white chocolate melting wafers

Disposable piping bag or sandwich bag

Parchment paper

Steps

1. The morning of or at least one hour before dipping, wash the strawberries and lay on paper towels to dry. You don't want to dip wet strawberries, so if you dip an hour after washing, be sure to

very

gently squeeze the moisture out of the strawberries.

2. Prepare a baking sheet by laying parchment paper on it. In a saucepan, melt the milk chocolate wafers over low heat.

About 6 - 8 oz of chocolate will cover approximately 24 or more strawberries.

Be sure to continuously stir the chocolate until it is completely smooth and melted.

Do not stop stirring.

 No one likes burnt chocolate.

3. Once the chocolate has melted, it's dipping time. Remove the saucepan from heat, hold the pot at an angle so that all of the chocolate is at one side of the pot. Hold a strawberry by the top greens and dip into the chocolate. Then, lay carefully onto the parchment paper. Repeat with all of the strawberries. Let the chocolate set before moving on to the next step. The chocolate will set faster than you think, mine took about thirty minutes to set completely.

4. In a microwave safe bowl melt the chocolate to drizzle.

To drizzle over 24 strawberries it takes around 2 oz of chocolate.

Melt in microwave in thirty second intervals, stirring between each time. It only took about a minute for my chocolates to melt. While the chocolate is still warm, fill a disposable piping bag or sandwich bag and cut off the very tip of the bag to create a fine line of drizzle. Drizzle back and forth across the chocolate covered portion of the strawberries. Let this bit of chocolate set before serving or packing up as gifts.
