Baby Daniel is two-months-old already! I can’t even believe how fast things have gone this time around, things really are different with the second kid. One of the hardest things to figure out when you go from one to two kids is balancing how to get things done. I’m by no means an expert at “getting it all done,” you should see how many items are always left on my to do list each week. I may not getting everything done all the time, but I have found a few things that help me to stay as productive as possible.
Tips for Being Productive
1. Create a Routine
I recently shared my daily routine, without it I would be 100% lost. We don’t follow this routine to a T every single day but it gives us a sort of guide and template for each day. Having some sort of layout for the day helps us to stay productive rather than busy because we know what needs to get done, and that gets priority in our schedule.
2. Be Intentional with Your Toddler
I find that it’s hardest for me to be productive when William (who is two years old) doesn’t have an activity that has been intentionally planned to work on while I’m taking care of the baby or trying to get some work done. He has always been independent but it’s easier for me when I know exactly what he is working on and I always feel better knowing he’s doing something that is at least a tiny bit educational. I have a few posts with tips for keeping your toddler busy: 6 Ways To Keep Your Toddler Busy While You’re Pregnant, 10 Minimal Mess Toddler Activities, and 5 Apps My Two-Year-Old Son Loves.
3. Take Care of Yourself
My favorite quote right now is “@@you can’t pour from an empty cup@@,” meaning if you are not taking care of yourself, how can you expect yourself to care for others and be productive. Take some time for self-care so you can pour into others. Ultimately, @@the key to being productive is to show yourself grace@@. @@Don’t beat yourself up when you don’t “do it all,” there’s always another day.@@ Take your time figuring out what works for you and your kiddos and before you know it, you’ll be productive.
