Can you believe that I have

never

 made lemonade from scratch before this? It's just not something we ever made growing up and when I was working at the cafe we used a powder as the base. I think it also intimidated me that it takes

so many

 lemons to make lemonade but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It took me less than ten minutes to squeeze all the juice out of the lemons and it was totally worth it.

The unique aspect of this lemonade comes in two parts: the most obvious is that it includes ginger but there is also a bit of orange juice added into the mixture. The ginger adds a unique scent and flavor that you will not taste in any other lemonade and the orange juice is barely noticeable but helps to counteract the normally tart taste that comes from the lemons. 

This lemonade may not be as easy or quick to make as say the Kool-Aid powder version, but it is 100x tastier and it makes so many servings that you can easily impress your friends at a summer gathering.

Fresh Ginger Lemonade

Yields:

10-11 servings

Ingredients

1 oz fresh ginger

2 cups granulated sugar

4 cups water

juice from 15 lemons

juice from 1/2 a naval orange

6 cups filtered water

Directions

1. Peel the ginger and chop into small pieces. Combine ginger, sugar, and 4 cups water in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes.

2. Use a slotted spoon to scoop out the ginger and pour the mixture into a large pitcher. Add in the 6 cups of filtered water and chill until ready to serve. Tastes best when used the with two days of making.
